This campaign marks the first appearance of the Dubai-based sisters together in a Huda Beauty campaign, adding an extra layer of excitement to the highly anticipated launch.

Behind the Scenes: A Candid Conversation with Huda and Mona

Huda: I was keen on having Mona as part of this new launch from the beginning. Originally, my team was considering influencers, and I thought, why not involve Mona? The dynamic of Team Pink versus Team Peach mirrors our usual banter— we do argue a lot! This is the first time Mona has participated in a Huda Beauty campaign.

Mona: I’m not sure why you never included me before, but now that you mention it…

Huda: When have you included me in Kayali?

Mona: I always ask, and you always say no.

Huda: Well, it’s your brand, and I wanted it to remain yours. Plus, I wanted to dedicate a launch entirely to you because I think you’re beautiful, even though you rarely take my advice.

Mona: Oh, come on… Let’s move on to the questions. I’m Team Pink, representing the cool undertones of the new #FauxFilterColor Corrector Cherry Blossom. Pink suits my clothes and my skin, giving a lovely touch of rosiness.

Huda: Determining undertones can be tricky, but using lipstick is a foolproof method. I’m more on the warm side, almost olive, so the new Peach Pie shade of our Easy Bake powder complements my undertones.

Mona: Our predictions about the under-eye trend a couple of years ago, especially with cherry blossom powder, were spot-on. People loved the full spectrum of under-eye correctors, and cherry blossom sold out immediately.

Huda: The next trend we anticipated was peach, expanding the range to suit more skin tones. The Peach Pie shade in Easy Bake powder turned out amazing.

Mona: We may argue, but we’re not that competitive. We did a lot of things together as kids.

Huda: I always wanted you by my side. From working at the fair’s drink booth to the clothing store at the mall, we did it all together.

Mona: When you started Huda Beauty, you convinced me to join you by quitting my job.

Huda: We’re in different lanes now, but we give each other feedback to ensure success.

Mona: I’m not competitive in the traditional sense. I believe there’s room for everyone, and my focus is on becoming a better version of myself.

Huda: Competition implies doing the same thing as others. Focus on your passion, and don’t let others dictate your path.

Mona: While we argue, we value honesty in feedback. It’s more intense with family, but it’s essential for growth.

Huda: I encouraged Mona to launch Kayali independently, realizing that my involvement might hinder her vision.

Mona: Therapy helped me understand my co-dependency. Now, I’m using my voice, just like you are [for Gaza].

Huda: Speaking up was the right thing to do, despite facing backlash. We’ve seen fake videos and ads, but silence would be denying their suffering.

Mona: We’ve seen oppression in our heritage, and social media gives us a platform to make a difference. People should not forget Palestine and the suffering.

In a candid conversation marked by laughter and tears, Huda and Mona Kattan bring their yin-and-yang personalities to the forefront, proving that family support and brutal honesty are their driving forces.
